Environmental Defense Fund Names Tokë Vandervoort as Chief Legal Officer
(Washington, D.C. – April 12. 2021) Environmental Defense Fund has hired C.M. Tokë Vandervoort as its new head lawyer for in-house operations.
Vandervoort started today as EDF’s Chief Legal Officer, reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Jay Knott. She will lead legal affairs and compliance for the organization’s national and international offices and will provide guidance and expertise on a wide range of issues related to carrying out EDF’s mission.
“Tokë brings outstanding strategic legal advisory experience to EDF,” said Knott. “We are thrilled to have her on board, and I look forward to working with her on the spectrum of challenges we will face as EDF expands its efforts to protect people and the planet.”
Vandervoort most recently served as Under Armour’s Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel leading all operational support legal functions globally. Before that she held senior legal roles at XO Communications and MCI, was in private practice, and served as a Judicial Law Clerk in U.S. District Court in Colorado. She is first-generation American, and the first in her family to graduate from college, earning degrees from Louisiana Tech University and Suffolk University Law School in Boston. Raised in New Orleans, she now lives in Washington D.C. with her family.
