Description
Hiro Shirakawa is EDF’s newly appointed Japan Region Chief. Hiro brings a wealth of experience, having worked as an economist at the Bank of Japan, UBS Financial Services, and Credit Suisse. As EDF’s principal representative in Japan, he leads EDF's efforts on energy transition and fishery management and builds meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders.
Background
Prior to joining EDF, Hiro covered economic and financial market analyses at Credit Suisse Securities Japan and UBS Securities Japan. His career includes a central bank economist and an administrator at the OECD. Since the Fukushima nuclear power plant event in 2011, which changed the country’s energy supply landscape and energy security, he has focused on fuel efficiency, energy consumption reforms, international coordination on emission mitigation plans, and clean ocean initiatives.
