Description

Maddie is an experienced communications and campaigns strategist with a strong track record of leading ocean-focused campaigns. As Director of EDF’s U.S. Aquaculture Campaign, Maddie leads advocacy efforts to pass legislation supporting sustainable, science-based open ocean aquaculture in federal waters. She oversees campaign strategy, coalition building, and external partnerships while managing a multidisciplinary team and consultants. Her work includes lobbying, media outreach, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and budget management to drive impactful, collaborative solutions for sustainable aquaculture development.

Background

Prior to EDF, Maddie managed content and communications at the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program, where she developed impactful campaigns for businesses and consumers, including overseeing digital platforms, media relations, and editorial strategies. She also played a key role in advocating for wildlife protection as Communications Manager for the Florida Wildlife Corridor, leading outreach initiatives and media engagements for the organization.

She holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of South Florida.
