Description
Maureen is a Senior Manager of Economics and Policy Analysis on EDF’s Economics team. She provides economics research in support of EDF’s efforts to reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas sector across North America. She works closely across disciplines within EDF and coordinates with external economists and experts.
Her current work focuses on the design of rigorous, measurement-based federal and state/provincial-level policies to address methane emissions from the oil and gas sector as well as policy options that can cope with the high cost of plugging oil and gas wells in the United States.
Background
Maureen Lackner is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. During her time at the University of Michigan, Maureen supported research at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and also worked with a community in Detroit to identify options for environmentally and economically sustainable transportation. Before returning to graduate school, she co-authored two papers aimed at identifying why certain countries adopt fossil fuel subsidies and the cultural and political contexts in which these policies are implemented.
