Melbourne bats get sprinkler system to cool down
Australia’s flying foxes are extremely sensitive to high temperatures, and Melbourne is giving them some relief. A robust system of 32 sprinklers were placed in the state’s largest bushland park, where the colony lives.
During trials, officials found the bats were quick to follow each other’s leads by finding comfort from the heat in the sprinkler showers.
