Making forests worth more alive than dead

The problem: Healthy forests directly support the lives of millions of people and help stabilize the climate worldwide. Yet deforestation is accelerating. Each second, the world loses roughly a soccer field’s worth of tree cover. Threats are growing, too — from more frequent and extreme wildfires, to farmland expanding into forests.

What we’re doing about it: We work on protecting forests in ways that last, by centering Indigenous leadership, improving land-use rules and making sure forests are worth more alive than dead. We also support innovations like FireSAT for faster wildfire detection and response. By 2030, we aim to significantly reduce global forest loss in 60% of forests.
